All For Anna Letting Go Book 1 edition by Nicole Deese Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Excellent read! The journey of a young woman who has post traumatic syndrome. The author is superb at bringing you right into her heart and mind. You feel the exquisite pain and then the free joy of her overcoming this difficult heartache. Her love patiently and yet solidly supports her through the whole process--always there to express his trust in her abilities. I could not put the book down until it was done. The author is amazing at pulling you into the tragedy and then giving you a hope for a happy ending with the sweet scenes between the two main characters and the main character and her sister and husband. Of course, the author shows in a very real yet sweet way that God is the real healer. A very difficult heartbreak of coping with a child dying in your arms is carefully described yet not depicted as completely hopeless as love of God and love of her friends help to sustain her until shej has the courage to choose to be free of the pain. Love the ending! Incredible closure in a scene which represents her heart-wrenching journey.
"Though our sweet Anna is gone...we know where she now resides. May her life be a reflection of love, forgiveness and grace. Even in the darkness there can be light, and even in the hardest circumstances we face, there can be hope."
All for Anna is book one in the Letting Go Series by author, Nicole Deese. Told from the viewpoint of the main character, Victoria Sales, the reader immediately engages with Victoria's (Tori's) thoughts and feelings. Tori, a Registered Nurse, is caught in the trap of guilt, heartbreak and shame caused by an accident wherein her worst nightmare comes to life. A child dies-a child she couldn't save-a child whose death she could have prevented.
In order to cope, Tori runs. She runs miles and miles to forget, to become numb, to put distance between herself and a memory that she cannot escape. Eventually, an intervention causes Tori to stop. And when she stops, she is challenged. Challenged by her sister, brother-in-law, parents and her new friend, Kai.
All for Anna explores the horror of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the real battle in dealing with the aftermath of horror. It is a story of facing fear, learning how to trust, and the embracing vulnerability in connecting with another human being.
Personally, I was fully engaged in the story. Nicole Deese does a fantastic job developing characters who are authentic. She weaves a tale that makes you simultaneously laugh and cry, my favorite emotion.
As a 54 year old male I'm certainly not the normal target audience for this genre of book but truth be known I'm a closet romanticist. I enjoyed this book on a number of levels. The first person perspective was well done and the author did an excellent job placing me inside the head of the protagonist - Victoria (Tori). It was easy to get caught up in her emotions and understand the demons she was battling with. Even though I would not have reacted in the same way she did to the trauma she had suffered I could never the less empathize with the way she was being impacted. I particularly liked the way the author played on the theme of 'running away' (from troubles, pain, people) in the book. As a reformed Christian I always read books of this nature waiting for a theological perspective that is going to wind up being too secular or simply at complete opposites of my own. Instead Deese does one of the best jobs I have run across in mixing both secular psychology and the Gospel. I enjoyed the way she introduces the Christian themes in the book because she left them as simple truths in the lives of the secondary characters instead of preaching a sermon which I've seen done far too often. If you're interested in a solid Romance novel with Christian themes and plenty of emotional angst, this is one not to miss out on.
